The Story of the Burning Stickman...

The story of the burning stickman dates back to early in the year 2000, my freshman year in highschool. Two good friends and I had to do a project for our history class, and we decided our talents would best be utilized in a video about the section we were assigned, which had to do with the French crown in the middle ages, and the fighting between the Huegenots and the Catholics. Imagine if during high school, the Monty Python crew decided to do a very, very, VERY low budget educational film, and you have the general idea of our project. It was a hit with our classmates, and we got the highest grade in the class, possibly due to the fact that I, as several different historical figures, get killed about a half dozen separate times. The centerpiece of our little film was a passage in our book that read, "...thousands were tortured, beaten and burned." And an oppurtunity like that was too hard to pass up. So using about a dozen popsicle sticks, a napkin, a Sharpie, and a rubber band, we made our little French martyr and placed him on our grill. With a smile on his face, he went up in flames and left our class rolling in the aisles. The rest, as they say, is history. You can view a quick Flash reinactment of the famous scene by clicking right here. Ah, the memories...
